Lake Minnetonka Island Wedding | Lauren and Jonathan

When I originally received the email from Lauren and Jonathan asking if I would be interested in helping with their Lake Minnetonka Island Wedding the only thing I could think of was.. YES.. OF COURSE!!! If you know me, you know that I love the water… and we have a boat on Lake Minnetonka and I spend every minute that I am not at a wedding.. either in the water or on the water!!

Lauren and Jonathan lived in California and were planning this celebration remotely, which is an undertaking even when you are not creating a venue on an island. They were organized and throughout the whole planning had the best perspective on everything!! The wide range of challenges you can run into while planning a backyard wedding are long. Everything from bugs, Heat, Rain, Transportation, Bathrooms, etc, etc. But even with the wide range of challenges.. backyard weddings are always my favorite types of events; Because there is nothing more special than getting married in a place that means so much to you!

The Lake Minnetonka island has been in Lauren’s family for generations and it was her special sanctuary that always seems to lead her back to Minnesota summer after summer. Lauren is a teacher and spent most of her breaks in Minnesota… at the lake.. planning the wedding!! We had numerous conversations about how to get guests out to the lake, Plan A, B and C for the weather, where vendors were going to park, how catering was going to load in and out… and after 18 months of planning.. It was their wedding day!!!!

The wedding day was exactly how I pictured it; One Hundred of Lauren and Jonathan’s best friends and family celebrating love , life and the lake that meant so much to them!!! Thank you to all of the vendors that helped make this day possible…. There were hundreds of logistics emails, reminders and follow-ups and we were lucky to have such an amazing group working on this!!! And Like Always.. Joe and Jen Photography captured the day so perfectly!!!!

Classic Lafayette Club Wedding | Jessica and Luke

Jessica and Luke’s wedding day could not have been any more beautiful!! We had been planning this wedding for well over a year and Jessica perfected every last detail of the day!! The ceremony was at the iconic Basilica of St. Mary and the reception was at the Classic Lafayette Club on Lake Minnetonka in Minnesota. Both of these venues are timeless wedding venues that were as elegant and classic as the couple themselves. White floral with touches of greenery were used for the centerpieces and the Classic Lafayette Club ballroom glowed with candlelight.

I loved the detail of the monogram and wax seal that was used for the invitations as well as all of the day of stationery.The small details like this are what really tied everything together; And Farina made one of my favorite wedding cakes. The simple design was complemented by lots of white floral.

Have you ever met someone and knew instantly that they were one of the sweetest people you have ever met… well that happened the first day that I met Christina and her mom! I was instantly in love and so excited to be apart of their big day! From beautiful floral, a festive wedding party and a classic setting on the shores of Lake Minnetonka.. the day was a perfect fall day, although it was a little chilly!!

It was the first time I had the pleasure of working with Whims and Joy and Sammy captured the day perfectly!! Sadie’s Floral and Apres transformed the ballroom at Lafayette Club into a beautiful blush and champagne dream.

Lafayette Club Wedding | Clare and Trent | Lake Minnetonka

I am not sure if it is the mutual love of the lake or the fact that we are both blonde and like to talk (a lot) But from the minute I met Clare and her parents I instantly fell in love with them and I knew that the next few months planning their wedding would be a lot of fun!! Clare and Trent had been in numerous weddings while their wedding and I think that gave them a lot of ideas and direction on what vendors they liked and what decor they wanted to incorporate.

I have a lot of “favorite” parts of this wedding, but I am especially fond of the beautiful stationery products. Because the wedding venues were surrounded by Lake Minnetonka we chose to do an illustration of the lake, the Lafayette Club and the church. The illustration that was done by Cait Courneya and Paper Rock Scissors and it set the perfect tone for this wedding!
