When you’re blessed with a backyard as stunning as Michaelene and Harry’s, it’s only natural to turn it into the idyllic setting for your summer wedding! On a picturesque August Saturday, amidst the warmth of the season, Michaelene and Harry exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony at their lakeside home on Lake Minnetonka, surrounded by an army of talented vendors who helped bring their vision to life.

Planning a wedding in your own backyard is no small task – it’s a monumental undertaking that requires meticulous attention to detail. Months were spent meticulously planning the logistics, from arranging paths and barges to transport the tent onto the property to strategically placing catering tents and addressing power needs. These considerations, while crucial, are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to transforming a backyard into a wedding venue.

However, when the time came to focus on the more enjoyable aspects – the flowers and decor – Michaelene’s vision truly shone through. Under the elegant canopy of a sailcloth tent, her dream wedding aesthetic came to fruition, creating a magical ambiance that perfectly complemented the natural beauty of their surroundings.

Michaelene and Harry devoted months to discussing logistics, ensuring every aspect was meticulously planned. From determining the optimal layout for tents and seating to addressing transportation and power needs, no detail was overlooked. When I originally received the email from Lauren and Jonathan asking if I would be interested in helping with their Lake Minnetonka Island Wedding the only thing I could think of was.. YES.. OF COURSE!!! If you know me, you know that I love the water… and we have a boat on Lake Minnetonka and I spend every minute that I am not at a wedding.. either in the water or on the water!!

Lauren and Jonathan lived in California and were planning this celebration remotely, which is an undertaking even when you are not creating a venue on an island. They were organized and throughout the whole planning had the best perspective on everything!! The wide range of challenges you can run into while planning a backyard wedding are long. Everything from bugs, Heat, Rain, Transportation, Bathrooms, etc, etc. But even with the wide range of challenges.. backyard weddings are always my favorite types of events; Because there is nothing more special than getting married in a place that means so much to you!

The Lake Minnetonka island has been in Lauren’s family for generations and it was her special sanctuary that always seems to lead her back to Minnesota summer after summer. Lauren is a teacher and spent most of her breaks in Minnesota… at the lake.. planning the wedding!! We had numerous conversations about how to get guests out to the lake, Plan A, B and C for the weather, where vendors were going to park, how catering was going to load in and out… and after 18 months of planning.. It was their wedding day!!!!

The wedding day was exactly how I pictured it; One Hundred of Lauren and Jonathan’s best friends and family celebrating love , life and the lake that meant so much to them!!!  Thank you to all of the vendors that helped make this day possible…. There were hundreds of logistics emails, reminders and follow-ups and we were lucky to have such an amazing group working on this!!! And Like Always.. Joe and Jen Photography captured the day so perfectly!!!!

Lafayette Club Fall Wedding

Have you ever met someone and knew instantly that they were one of the sweetest people you have ever met… well that happened the first day that I met Christina and her mom! I was instantly in love and so excited to be apart of their big day! From beautiful floral, a festive wedding party and a classic setting on the shores of Lake Minnetonka.. the day was a perfect fall day, although it was a little chilly!!

It was the first time I had the pleasure of working with Whims and Joy and Sammy captured the day perfectly!!  Sadie’s Floral and  Apres transformed the ballroom at Lafayette Club into a beautiful blush and champagne dream.

Allie and Daniel picked one of my favorite venues to get married at this past October.. Lafayette Club! Not only do I live close by the venue, but I am a big fan of golfing and the lake… so this venue combines all of my favorites perfectly!!

Just when I thought I could not love the club anymore, they decided to give the event spaces a fresh coat of paint, new carpet and lots of beautiful tweaks that really brightened up the space! The new decor was a perfect compliment for Allie and Daniel’s wedding decor! The couple wanted to bring in their love of wine and Tuscany throughout their wedding decor. We incorporated wine corks, wine boxes, an antipasto station and lots of sprigs of olive!

The wedding day was perfect and I love looking at Allie and Daniel’s infectious smiles!!! One reason the day went so perfectly was because of Allie’s mom, Mary!! This lady was a planning queen!! There was not a detail that was thought through and Allie and Daniel were lucky to have her on their planning team to take some of the decisions off of their plate!!

Lafayette Club Wedding

Not all weddings day bring sunshine and great weather, and that is exactly what happened on Ashley and Tommy’s wedding day at Lafayette Club in June! But it would take a little bit more then rain to stop this group from celebrating! After a morning of heavy rain the skies cleared up just in time to have a beautiful outdoor ceremony on the lawn at Lafayette Club followed by photos on shore of Lake Minnetonka!
