In the heart of Minnesota’s summer, Ryan and Lauren were married at Bavaria Downs, Edward Anne Estate, a beautiful venue right outside of the Minneapolis metro area.  Ryan, a professional hockey player for the Minnesota Wild, and Lauren, exchanged vows in front of 275 guests on a beautiful summer day.

I was so excited when I was hired to be Lauren and Ryan’s wedding planner and they were an absolute dream to work with. Having dated for years, Ryan and Lauren did a great job of knowing exactly what they wanted for their wedding and spent time thinking about what would make this celebration the best for their guests. Against the backdrop of Bavaria Downs the reception space looked stunning and it featured stunning floral arrangements by Sadie’s Couture Flowers and Events. Light pink, ivory, and tan roses adorned the venue, creating a charming atmosphere.

Guests enjoyed music by Rock with U and delicious catering by Damico Catering. Alexis Chanel Photography and Josh Flom captured the day’s special moments, while Paper Rock Scissor provided elegant stationery.

When you’re blessed with a backyard as stunning as Michaelene and Harry’s, it’s only natural to turn it into the idyllic setting for your summer wedding! On a picturesque August Saturday, amidst the warmth of the season, Michaelene and Harry exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony at their lakeside home on Lake Minnetonka, surrounded by an army of talented vendors who helped bring their vision to life.

Planning a wedding in your own backyard is no small task – it’s a monumental undertaking that requires meticulous attention to detail. Months were spent meticulously planning the logistics, from arranging paths and barges to transport the tent onto the property to strategically placing catering tents and addressing power needs. These considerations, while crucial, are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to transforming a backyard into a wedding venue.

However, when the time came to focus on the more enjoyable aspects – the flowers and decor – Michaelene’s vision truly shone through. Under the elegant canopy of a sailcloth tent, her dream wedding aesthetic came to fruition, creating a magical ambiance that perfectly complemented the natural beauty of their surroundings.

Transforming a backyard into a wedding venue requires meticulous planning and coordination. Michaelene and Harry devoted months to discussing logistics, ensuring every aspect was meticulously planned. From determining the optimal layout for tents and seating to addressing transportation and power needs, no detail was overlooked. This level of preparation was essential in creating a seamless and unforgettable experience for their guests.

With the logistical challenges addressed, attention turned to the aesthetic elements that would truly elevate their celebration. Michaelene had a clear vision for the atmosphere she wanted to create – one of timeless elegance with a touch of rustic charm. Under the sweeping expanse of a sailcloth tent, adorned with delicate blooms and lush greenery, her vision came to life. Every detail, from the table settings to the floral arrangements, was thoughtfully curated to reflect the couple’s unique style and personality.

There is just something about a Bavaria Downs Wedding.. This venue is stunning and when you pair it with a couple like Kiera and Neal you can make Magic!!

After coordinating weddings for over 17 years I have had the privilege of working with a lot of the same families when they have multiple sons/daughter’s get married.. and its one of my favorite parts about my job. I love getting to know a family and the Charpentier Family is no different! Honestly, Ive been trying to be part of the family since I met them years ago while planning Emily and Andrew’s wedding 🙂

This time it was Grace and Jake’s turn and they had a nice long engagement which made securing the vendors they wanted easy and the planning the details alot of fun. They booked Willow Brooke Farm when it was just getting finished with construction and they knew it was the perfect venue the minute they saw it. The clean white color palette of the venue really made it fun to add some fun details like a black and white dance floor from Apres, an elevated floral runner on the head table and cold sparks for the dance.

Get ready to see this dreamy backyard tent wedding …

 

Stephanie and Kevin jumped into wedding planning with the help of Katherine, Stephanie’s lovely mom right after they were engaged. They originally had intentions of getting married at a local venue, but after our initial meeting, they were curious if their backyard would work to hold the black-tie affair. After several meetings with Apres, we knew that this was an option and the rest of the details started to be planned!!! Stephanie truly had a vision for what she wanted this tent to look like and how she wanted the day to feel.

The ceremony was in their front yard where guests were greeted with welcome drinks before taking a seat in the tree-lined ceremony backdrop. The Birchwood string quartet serenaded guests with modern music on strings as we prepared to start the ceremony.

After Stephanie and Kevin were pronounced Mr. & Mrs, the guests were invited into the back yard where cocktail hour was held on the patio and around the pool. Lounge furniture provided conversation areas throughout the backyard. Eventually, when it was time to be seated guests found their seating assignment on the placecard board affixed to boxwood backdrops.

Despite being an outdoor wedding, the couple wanted the wedding to still feel formal and elegant. And as guests entered the tent the band welcomed guests while everyone found their way to their seats. The large tent was divided in half by a circular bar that separated the dining area from the dance area. The ceiling was filled with greenery and Sparkling chandeliers that set the romantic tone. A color palette of ivory, gold, and green worked well against the backdrop of the beautifully landscaped yard!!

The night continued with dinner, dancing and personalized late-night snacks that displayed the customized monogram that was featured throughout the wedding! Congrats to Mr. & Mrs. Murphy!!
